Aquarion Water Company will be starting a water main replacement project on Phillips Drive, Woodland Street, and Leslie Lane beginning mid-August. Aquarion has hired J.A. Polito & Sons, based in Shrewsbury to complete the construction. Work will begin on Phillips Drive at Main Street, then move to Woodland Street, and finally Leslie Lane. The project includes the installation of 1,450 feet of new 8-inch ductile iron water main, fire hydrants, and valves to improve fire flow availability and service reliability in the area. Customer water services to their property lines will also be replaced. The water main project is expected to be completed by mid-October. Afterwards, the Town of Millbury will be completing a roadway construction and paving project on the same streets.
During the project, customers in the area may experience temporary service disruptions or discolored water. Aquarion recommends customers store water in their refrigerators for drinking and cooking, in case these circumstances arise. Customers should also refrain from washing laundry if water is discolored. Prior to resuming use, customers should run their cold water faucets until the water appears clear. Due to construction, customers should expect possible detours during the working hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Aquarion will be working closely with their customers, contractors, and Town officials to coordinate the work and to minimize disruption. Customers with questions or concerns may contact Aquarion Customer Service at 1-800-732-9678 or our office in Millbury at 508-865-3998.
