Assessors Office

The Assessor’s office is responsible for the determination of fair market value of all real and personal property within the town, and the administration of all laws relative to taxation as outlined in the Massachusetts General Laws.  The office is also responsible for compiling and submitting property value data required for setting the annual tax rate as well as undergo an audit by the Department of Revenue every 5 years (Revaluation).  

In order to accomplish this, the office is mandated to value all properties annually and update all changes that have occurred through building permits, recent sales data, and all changes in the market.  Each property should be inspected at a minimum of once every 10 years. 

The office provides assistance to property owners in regards to questions and problems related to the appraisal of property, tax billing information, and property ownership.  We also work with the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission to annually update our parcel maps--now available on this website.
