The town will own nearly 120 acres of land for conservation and recreational purposes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ STONE STRUCTURE - added January 5, 2010 The stone structure between the Asa Waters Mansion and the Municipal Office Building is silhouetted against a late December sunrise. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SUNRISE PHOTO - 12/15/2009 View of sunrise from the Asa Waters Mansion. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EAGLE PHOTO - 12/3/2009 The town received the following email from the photographer, Edd Cote: For the record, the bird has been positively identified as a juvenile (probably 1 year old) bald eagle. They don't get the distinctive white head until 4-5 years old. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 12/1/2009 at 9:42 AM At 8:00 this morning as I traveled towards Singletary Lake, just rounding the little corner with S&D Spinning pond on my right, I saw a huge bird atop the tall pines next to the road near the former Harris Oil complex. Other cars were stopping to see the creature, it was that big. Not being an expert, I at first rejected it as a bald eagle, but when I got home I looked at my field guide and did some Googling. I'm now pretty convinced the bird was an immature bald eagle, and have sent some pictures off to a couple knowledgeable birders for a better ID. -Edd
